To install and implement a full scale tertiary Wastewater Treatment Plant for Goshen, New York and meet the effluent discharge permit limitations.
GA Fleet supplied nearly all of Goshen’s equipment for the upgrade from a secondary to a state-of-the-art tertiary treatment plant while applying rigid design data such as influent parameters, effluent Limits, pH, and effluent disinfection measurement.
At the Primary Treatment level, GA Fleet worked with Lakeside Equipment Corporation, using the most advanced capabilities of Raptor Fine Screen and Spiragrit?highly sophisticated machines designed to eliminate and decontaminate non-organic solids and grit which are then safely removed to a landfill facility for disposal. Because all headworks equipment are sized and furnished by Lakeside, the engineer and plant personnel can turn to a single source to coordinate commissioning and future maintenance.
At the Secondary Treatment Level, we again worked successfully with Lakeside Equipment because we recognized that they could supply the complex systems and mechanical components to effectively reduce Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) and suspended solids, and significantly lower energy costs ? up to 65% in some cases.
At the Tertiary Treatment Level, the goal is to remove virtually all remaining impurities from sewage and restore the quality of effluent to almost drinking-level quality. We worked with those engineers who selected UV over chemical treatment because of how it fundamentally disinfects bacteria, viruses, and other pathogens. The Trojan UV System features fully automatic cleaning to minimize fouling and field maintenance, and significantly decrease energy consumption.
Throughout the process, GA Fleet played an integral role in final construction documents, bidding, order procurement, construction, and start-up requirements.
In the end, GA Fleet provided more than a solution for Goshen’s Wastewater Treatment Plant; we built an environmentally-sensitive model to help other municipalities prepare for a greener future.
